Montreal’s north shore is home to some of the most beautiful nature spots in all of Canada. There are so many options to explore that will inspire you, connect you to nature, and nurture a love for the great outdoors. If you’re looking to get outside and take in the beauty of the season, check out these family-friendly destinations located on the stunning north shore of Montreal! I have had the pleasure of exploring these hidden treasures with my two young boys and I cannot wait to share them with you so you can discover them as well!
This hidden treasure is actually right on a main road leading into the area of Charlemagne in Terrebonne that most people miss! But when you find it and walk along the wood boardwalk along the water to enjoy the many different types of birds and be enveloped in tall grasses and trees, you will find yourself in a peaceful state, breathing in all the beautiful nature surrounding you.
The sunrises and sunsets here are absolutely stunning! Young and old alike will enjoy the freedom to explore all that nature has to offer.
This quiet location in Rosemère, Quebec is perfect for your next family picnic in the gazebo by the old historical home. After that you can all take a walk on the wooden boardwalk in the marsh leading to a beautiful river view. In the summer you can access the dock. The Fall colours here are also stunning.
And why not go grab an ice cream at the Chocolat Favoris right by while you’re at it? I love this spot for its big open spaces for kids to run around and play and then to see them marvel at the ducks and the boats along the river.
Enter Parc Moulin Fisk into your google maps and you will be led to one of my favourite hidden treasures on the north shore of Montreal in Crabtree! It is a hidden, small town so it makes for a really quiet and private spot with flowing rivers that are shallow enough to walk through making it thrilling for your whole family!
Bring your picnic basket and sit on the shore or in the grassy forested area and enjoy a family picnic while enjoying the beautiful nature and the sounds of the rushing river.
This hidden treasure is right by the public pool in Mascouche, Quebec on Montreal’s north shore and once you climb down the many wooden stairs, you will find yourself looking at a vast river with impressive rock structures and tall grasses ,forests, and a small waterfall.
With little streams leading into the big river, there are so many beautiful spots to explore here. Enjoy on a picnic on the rocks on the river edge and marvel at nature’s beauty together as a family.
I hope this gives you some inspiration for your next family adventure or maybe even your next family photoshoot! I even like to go here for my own quiet nature retreats when I need some “me” time. Let me know if you visit these places or if you have any other suggestions!!
